Pride Month 2023

Pride Month 2023

Why does Pride matter? Why do we get a month? What was it all about? I’ve posted an article from People Magazine below to give a brief rundown for the oft-asked questions. June is Pride Month, and though the LGBTQ+ community continues to face an uphill battle — the ACLU reports there are currently 491 pieces of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation being floated around the U.S. — there is still much to celebrate. According to the Library of Congress, the month recognizes…

Pinned

Pinned

I was out and about paying a few bills today, and when I was in the customer service line at our local grocery store, I saw a woman behind the counter wearing a rainbow pin that said “love will always win,” and a little pin next to it listing her pronouns as “She/They” and I just wanted to cry. I wanted to cry because sometimes I don’t realize just how much pressure there truly is pushing down on us, and…

A Chant For Autumn

A Chant For Autumn

I can feel the signs of autumn in the breeze, summer sighs and makes to leave, windy warm through apple trees.I can smell the rain upon the air, dewy drops on leafy tops, shimmers in my hair. The frost paints silver shadows on the dawn, turning pigments red and brown, like bucks grown from the fawn. The words I speak that hover in the air, surround my senses and touch your lips,a time machine in little sips, and rusty rosy dirt upon the ground we lay, burrowed deep, seeds…

Abiding Eos

Abiding Eos

I have an idea about what I want to do next.I’d like a forum for leftists. I mean a place for socialists of all stripes: Democratic Socialism, Marxism, Anarchism, et. al., to come and talk without interference from moderators. Certainly, there are a few spaces where socialists can talk, but they’re almost always governed by people who have a vested interest in maintaining a corporate atmosphere and always willing to pull the rug out from under people as soon as…

Lullabies and Good-nights

Lullabies and Good-nights

Rock-a-bye baby,In the tree top. When the wind blows,The cradle will rock.Rock-a-bye baby,In the tree top, when the wind blows. Thank you, mom, for singing me to sleep every night that I was scared when I was a child.I will always hear your soft voice, and feel you rubbing the bridge of my nose with your finger. I felt so safe, because I knew you were there to watch over me. I miss you so much.

To my mother, who has reached the stars before me.

To my mother, who has reached the stars before me.

On October 22nd, 2021 at 5:01 PM, my mother died. She was 65 years old. She had suffered, for many years, from diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, body aches and pains from having the inability to walk. She had suffered strokes, seizures, and two heart attacks. She’d had sarcoidosis of the central nervous system, a nephrectomy, and dozens of other minor surgeries. She would have hospital stays anywhere from a week to 4 months at a time. She was…

Why I’m A Communist

Why I’m A Communist

I didn’t become the way I am because of communism, I am this way, and communism happens to match what I’m looking for in humanity’s future: a stateless, classless, moneyless society where everyone truly can work to achieve what they want in life, rather than what is dictated to them by those who will never have to worry about having a home, food, or peace of mind. If, as an American, the first thing you think of when you hear…

Tipping The Scales

Tipping The Scales

I just want all of you to know that even though I can sometimes seem abrasive, even hateful, it is not out of hatred or disgust for any of you, but in defense of you. I hate the system that traps us here, that keeps some of us bound, and others fighting just to breathe. I have no tolerance nor patience for injustice, cruelty, exploitation, and in the process of burning away as much of it as I can, it…

Self-Esteem Squeegee

Self-Esteem Squeegee

This is a stream of consciousness post. It might ramble a bit, but please listen to it. You are fine exactly as you are. Your physical attributes are only one aspect of who you are as a person. I understand that we all have insecurities, but I promise you that there are people who find you attractive, who want to connect with you, and who are looking for people like you. I know I’ve asked the question myself. See, I…
