We’re ten days into October, and it’s still way too warm here. According to the Gregorians, Autumn has been in full swing for about two weeks now. I’m hoping that by Halloween things have cooled considerably. It isn’t properly Halloween unless there is a chill in the air, and falling leaves upon the ground that make a satisfying crunch when you walk on them.
This is also the time of year where the veil between worlds thins just a little bit, enough to make one more cognizant of things that exist just outside of their awareness, motes of light, shadow, echoes of sound that flit just outside the edges of one’s senses.
Ooh. Spooky, eh?
Approach now,
the veil asunder,
lightning, storm, and rolling thunder,
crackling fire,
burning embers,
float amongst the burning timbers,
creaky bones,
glowing eyes,
dreadful devils in disguise,
night’s upon us,
so watch the Moon,
for Halloween is coming soon!
