I picture myself standing in the center of a bridge that spans a bottomless chasm. Save for the one sourceless light that shines above me, a few meters away the bridge fades into darkness in every direction. On each side, I can see the thin, metal railing, which is the only thing separating me from going over the side and into the endless blackness below.
Looking both ways, I walk across the width of the bridge, step up, and grip the railing. I kick off with my feet, and do a handstand. I am now between the bridge and the chasm, with only the railing itself, and the strength of my arms, for support. It all comes down to balance.
